Philanthropy
An essential aspect of being a sister of Alpha Gamma Delta is giving back to the community. One of our many goals is to help those in need by volunteering our time and efforts. All the money that we raise through our various events go towards the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. This Foundation is extremely dedicated to helping improve the lives of those who are affected by diabetes in a variety of different ways. Philanthropy is not just about donating money, but it is also about donating your time, bonding with community members, and seeing the results of our efforts firsthand. Below, you will be able to get a glimpse of the Philanthropy work our chapter has done.
Each year, the Zeta Pi chapter participates as volunteers and runners in the annual JDRF run in Philadelphia. The jobs we perform range from registering runners to handing out water and snacks at various rest stops throughout the day. Sisters also contributed their leadership skills to Zeta Pi’s 16th Annual Fashion Show. Our theme was “Derby for Diabetes,” and sisters recruited vendors and students to model clothes up and down a runway surrounded by stunning props and posters built from scratch by our Decorations Committee. The clothes that were modeled were all generously donated from local stores and boutiques. Between ticket purchases to see students flaunt their outfits down the runway and raffle basket sales, Zeta Pi achieved the Jewel Chapter Status by raising an incredible $3,465 for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation!
In the spring semester, our sisters get together and host a Wiffleball Tournament, Swings for a Cure. It is a great time to be outdoors and it always attracts a large crowd. With the help of Lambda Chi Alpha, we were able to raise a total of $1,532.26 last semester!
